Tomball Regional Medical Center to test drive new robotic surgery technology
Tomball Regional Medical Center will introduce its new robotic surgery technology, the da Vinci Surgical System, during a test drive event at noon Wednesday, Jan. 23 in the tower lobby.
The event will include a discussion of the advances in minimally invasive robotic surgery, a chance to meet physicians on the medical staff who perform surgery with the robot and the test drive. Light refreshments will be served.
According to a center press release, "Using the system, the surgeon operates while seated at a console viewing a 3-D image of the surgical area. The system mimics the surgeon's hand movements in real time, in a smaller scale, within the operating site in the patient's body. The robot provides sharper detail and a 360-degree view of the surgery site, as well as greater dexterity in navigating complex anatomical structures."
Tomball Regional Medical Center is at 605 Holderrieth Blvd., Tomball.
