Family medicine physician Dr. Bhavna Reddy has joined the Memorial Hermann Medical Group Imperial Oaks location in Spring.
Fresh off completing a family medicine residency at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown this summer, Dr. Bhavna Reddy decided to stay local and go into practice at the Memorial Hermann Medical Group Imperial Oaks location in Spring.
When she was a resident at San Jacinto, she started to explore all of her options as to where she could start her practice, but Memorial Hermann stayed at the top of her list.
“Kind of looking around, I wanted to stay in the Houston area,” Reddy said. “My family is in East Texas, so I wanted to stay nearby.”
Specializing in preventive health care, Reddy sees patients of all ages, from newborns to senior citizens.
“We are proud to include Dr. Reddy among the physicians in our group,” said Memorial Hermann Medical Group CEO Ayse McCracken in a press release. “Adding an additional family medicine physician to our Imperial Oaks location allows us to broaden the continuum of services we offer the community.”
Reddy joins Dr. Gary Mueck as family medicine physicians at the Imperial Oaks practice.
“Dr. Mueck has been very welcoming,” Reddy said. “He’s very knowledgeable and has a lot more experience than I do, so he’s a good source to go to if I have questions.”
As a child, Reddy said she knew becoming a doctor was in her future.
“I have a lot of family in medicine, so I was exposed to it at an early age,” Reddy said.
“It kind of seemed to me that (medicine) is where I fit in. I’ve always wanted to help people, get to know my patients. I like to keep people healthy rather than take care of them after they get sick.”
Reddy discovered her desire for family medicine while in medical school.
“Initially, I was interested in internal medicine, and then in going through all the rotations, family medicine kind of just felt right,” she said. “I didn’t want to be in one area. (I) wanted to be in a general area where I would be able to see all ages.”
Reddy said she is looking forward to a long career helping others.
“It’s not always medicine, but some of it is social,” Reddy said.
“I want to always be there for my patients when they need me.”
