Deck out a tree for charity at Gleannloch Farms

The Village at Gleannloch Farms is encouraging the public to participate in its third annual Parade of Trees fundraiser to benefit local charities.

According to a press release, businesses, organizations and individuals can buy and decorate Christmas trees, which will afterward be entered into an auction.

“We want to make sure people in the community are aware that the buying and decorating process has started and that we need as many people and companies as said possible to donate trees,” Kathy Johanns, executive director at The Village at Gleannloch Farms.

Companies and community members can sponsor a tree through Monday, Nov. 26, with bidding on trees held Tuesday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 7.

“It gives us a feeling of belonging to something besides ourselves,” said resident Marlene Suter. “Charities are always short on money. This is a way for us to help others in need and we feel good about it.”

The auction and celebration will be held from 6-8 p.m. Dec. 7 at The Village at Gleannloch Farms, 9505 Northpointe Blvd., in Spring.

Last year, 35 trees were decorated and auctioned off, raising $5,000 for the Krause Children’s Center and TOMAGWA Health Care Ministries.
