Tomball ISD board of trustees to assess facility improvements, expansion

The Tomball Independent School District board of trustees recently commissioned a study to assess facility improvements and expansions for the 2013-14 through 2018-19 school years.

Members of the school district will conduct the study, with a group of prospective participants selected by the board of trustees to form a core of committee members.

The core group will meet to solicit other interested people, organize and divide into subcommittees. Other participants will be solicited in the media and by notices sent to each parent in the district.

Subcommittees will study topics including area demographics, population projections, programs of other school districts, the district's current financial position and methods of financing capital expenditures.

To conduct the studies, the subcommittees may visit campuses, interview teachers and administrators and do research on items including current quality levels of programs, instruction and finance in the public education field.

Findings will then be reported and recommendations made to the steering committee, which will then analyze reports and develop findings and recommendations.

Those will then be presented at a public forum to explain the process for and conclusions of the study. Responses will also be solicited from the public.

Recommendations will then be presented to the Tomball ISD board of trustees by the steering committee. Based on the report, the board will then make a determination on facility needs of the district for the next five years and ways to address those needs.
