City of Tomball accused of age discrimination
Former City Engineer Mark McClure is suing over claims Tomball managers fired him because of his age.
He filed a lawsuit on Feb. 13 in the Harris County District Court against the City of Tomball, citing discrimination and retaliation.
McClure says on Jan. 31, 2011, Assistant City Manager Christal Kliewer and George Shackelford fired him, without cause, from his position, Director of Engineering and Planning.
Kliewer gave McClure his termination letter while saying she smelled something “musty and burning,” referring to his age, according to the brief. He was 55 at the time.
McClure is seeking damages, attorney’s fees and court costs. He is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Steven Petrou.
