Lone Star College-Tomball to offer free college prep program

Lone Star College-Tomball's Office of Continuing Education is now offering a free college readiness program for recent GED graduates and adults over the age of 18.

Made available through a grant funded by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the Aurora Project is designed to prepare people who want to continue their education in preparation for the demands of college with a focus on reading, writing, math and student success strategies.

In order to be accepted into the program, applicants must complete a register, attend daily classes and workshops and take pre-THEA and LASSI tests.

Financial incentives applicable toward college tuition may also be available upon completion of the program.

Cohorts run for eight-week sessions: March 30-May 25 and June 18-Aug. 10. Information sessions will be available at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9; Feb. 23; and Mar. 8, and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14 and Feb. 28 in Room N-214 on the LSC-Tomball campus.
