Meet Shelter Pets of the Week, Cindy, Jarred and Jewel
published Jun. 2, 2011 - Story by Katjusa CisarA 1-year-old female dachshund mix, Cindy, and two shepherd-labrador puppies, Jarred and Jewel, are Ultimate Tomball's shelter Pets of the Week and are up for adoption through Abandoned Animal Rescue (AAR). An AAR volunteer relates Cindy's story: "Hi there, I'm Cindy! I'm a lovely young lady who is yearning to find a forever family who will love me and treat me like part of the family. I was about to be euthanized at another shelter when, thankfully, I ended up here. "I'm a very sweet, friendly girl. I adore attention and love to be hugged, cuddled, and oohed and ahhed over. I'm good with other dogs and people of all ages. I enjoy being inside with the family, but I also like my daily dose of chasing squirrels outside or playing with kids or other dogs. I'm crate-trained and know how to use a doggie door. If you're looking for a couch potato, I would love to be that kind of gal." AAR also has many puppies up for adoption, including littermates Jerred and Jewel, who will soon celebrate their 5-month birthday. AAR's dog and puppy adoption fee is $100. All animals are up-to-date on shots, de-wormed, flea-free, spayed or neutered when old enough, microchipped and checked for heartworms. The shelter also has lots of kittens up for adoption this time of year. If adopted in pairs, the second kitten is half-price. To learn more about how to adopt Cindy, Jarred, Jewel or other pets, call AAR at 281-290-0121, email aar.dogs.cats@gmail.com or stop by the shelter at 419 E. Hufsmith Road. AAR is an all-volunteer, nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter, pet adoption center and low-cost spay/neuter clinic. For more information, go to www.aartomball.org.
